IBPS RRB XV 2026: a Chayantra guide to dates, eligibility, fees and exam pattern

CRP RRBs XV covers recruitment to Regional Rural Banks: Office Assistants (Multipurpose) and Officers in Scales I, II and III. These are banking posts—not Railway Recruitment Board vacancies. The first decision is the post you are eligible for; the second is the State/UT and local-language requirement relevant to your application.

1. Key dates: plan around the application deadline

Schedule in the supplied notification
ActivityNotification schedule
Online registration and fee payment1–21 September 2026
Application edit windowTwo days after registration closes; dates to be notified by IBPS
Preliminary examinationNovember / December 2026 (tentative)
Main / single examinationDecember 2026 / February 2027 (tentative)
Officer interviewsJanuary / February 2027 (tentative)
Provisional allotmentFebruary / March 2027 (tentative)

The notification gives broad examination windows, not an individual appointment. Your call letter and subsequent IBPS notices determine the applicable date, reporting time and venue. Do not assume the edit window allows every field to be changed.

2. Eligibility: check the cutoff date, not just your age today

Age is assessed as on 1 September 2026. The base date-of-birth bands below apply before eligible relaxations; the official category rules and documentary requirements must be checked separately.

Base date-of-birth bands; both endpoints inclusive
PostDate of birth: fromThrough
Office Assistant2 September 19981 September 2008
Officer Scale I2 September 19961 September 2008
Officer Scale II2 September 19941 September 2005
Officer Scale III2 September 19861 September 2005

Office Assistant and Scale I require a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent and the specified local-language proficiency. Working computer knowledge is desirable. The notification lists no post-qualification experience requirement for these two posts. Qualification results must have been declared by 21 September 2026.

Scale II General Banking Officer requires at least 50% aggregate graduation marks and two years as an officer in a bank or financial institution. Scale III requires at least 50% and a minimum of five years’ officer experience. Scale II specialist qualifications and experience vary by discipline—read your exact row rather than applying the general banking criteria.

Check the prescribed certificates for your category, disability or ex-servicemen claim. This overview is not a substitute for the nationality, reservation, local-language and qualification clauses.

3. Fees: the concession categories differ by post

Application fees including GST
Post₹175 categoryAll other candidates
Officers Scale I, II & IIISC / ST / PwBD₹850
Office AssistantSC / ST / PwBD / ESM / DESM₹850

These amounts include GST; bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate. If you apply for an Office Assistant post and an eligible Officer post, submit separate applications and pay the fee separately. Within the Officer cadre, you may apply for only one scale.

4. Exam pattern: prepare for separate section clocks

Office Assistant and Officer Scale I preliminary examination
SectionQuestions / marksTime
Reasoning40 / 4025 minutes
Numerical Ability (OA) / Quantitative Aptitude (Scale I)40 / 4020 minutes
Total80 / 8045 minutes

Candidates must qualify in both tests to be considered for shortlisting. A single 45-minute practice timer does not reproduce this structure: practise the 25-minute and 20-minute sections separately.

The main examination for these posts has 200 questions, 200 marks and 120 minutes, covering Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, General Awareness, English or Hindi, and Numerical Ability or Quantitative Aptitude. Scale II and III use a single-examination route with their own pattern.

For objective tests, a wrong answer costs one quarter of the marks assigned to that question. An unanswered question attracts no penalty. That means −0.25 on a one-mark prelims question—not necessarily a flat −0.25 on every question in every examination.

Office Assistant final merit uses main-examination marks. Scale I proceeds from prelims to mains and interview; Scales II and III proceed from a single online examination to interview. Prelims performance is not the final selection score.

5. Your pre-submission checklist

  1. Open the recruitment page through IBPS. Choose Office Assistant or the correct Officer application—not an unofficial payment link.
  2. Match your name and date of birth to supporting records. Check the post, category, State/UT, qualifications and local-language details before submission.
  3. Prepare the photograph, signature, left-thumb impression, handwritten declaration and certificates required for your case. Follow Annexure III’s upload specifications, including the live photograph requirement.
  4. Review the form, complete payment and retain the submitted application and payment acknowledgement securely.
  5. Revisit official notices for the edit window, updated vacancies, call letters and examination instructions. Keep registration credentials private.

Chayantra preparation note: After each timed practice section, separate knowledge gaps from calculation errors and time-management errors. Rework those questions before adding another full test. This is editorial guidance, not an IBPS instruction or a promise of selection.

6. Common questions

Can I apply for Office Assistant and Officer Scale I?

Yes, if eligible for each. Applications and payments are separate. You cannot apply for multiple scales within the Officer cadre.

Is there an interview for Office Assistant?

The notification’s Office Assistant route uses prelims and mains, with main marks considered for final merit. The common interview applies to Officer posts.

Where should I check current vacancies?

Use the latest vacancy annexure and corrigendum on the official IBPS page. Vacancies are indicative and provisional allotment depends on actual vacancies reported by participating banks.
